Our Story

Jonathan Gross, Labguru’s founder, first encountered the challenges of managing a research group when he started working in a lab. He was quickly overwhelmed by the amount of data he generated regularly, and began using his programming skills to support a variety of tasks. This laid the groundwork for the founding of Labguru in 2008, when a young PI asked him to develop an integrated system for his new lab.

That system evolved into the robust Labguru you see today.

Formerly part of the Holtzbrinck Publishing Group from 2010-2024, Labguru was acquired by Battery Ventures in April 2024. Joining forces with Battery’s Titian Software to provide an integrated lab data and sample-management solution for researchers, this acquisition aligns with Battery Ventures’ initiative to form a global organization offering an end-to-end solution across life sciences and laboratory applications. The initiative spans the entire workflow, from ELN to inventory and sample management, research, testing, and QC workflows.
